Buy tickets way in advance. Tourist prime time purchase months prior, in off season weeks prior. They sell out everyday. When you walk in they have free coat check. You get a listening device and get to walk through with a self guided tour. This is not handicap accessible. (Narrow stairs). Very limited chances to sit. All standing and takes a little over an hour. Overall very unique museum experience. No cameras allowed. Very friendly staff. Nice gift shop. This is a must see when visiting Amsterdam. I would not do it again. It's a one and done experience.
Very informative, easy to follow the route around the exhibition. Interesting & heartbreaking audio commentary included in the ticket price. We were there 845am for 9am pre-purchased tickets, and there was already a queue. Surprised at the massive side entrance, but all went smoothly. Free Cloakroom was perfect so not carrying winter coats around inside. Staff were helpful.
Really would recommend. The audio tour helps paint a picture of what it was like back then. Imagining having to be quiet so you weren't heard. Seeing the original features really brings it to life.
I traded Anne Frank's Diary in the 7th grade, and was too young to fully appreciate the story. To be there, to walk through the same rooms where she and her family hid from the Nazis was very powerful. If you visit Amsterdam, this is a must. Afterward, climb aboard one of the canal boats for a beautiful tour of Amsterdam from a unique perspective. It will clear your head.
Incredible place, so sad and tragic yet essential that everyone sees the horrors inflicted on Jewish people in Amsterdam. Very well organised for entrance, the audio tour was very informative, as were all the exhibits. A must go.
