Known for ribs and grilled meat in a crowded, old-school room that feels like it has resisted over-design. It is a good choice when you want a hearty meal before a night out.

If you love meat, Café de Klos is an absolute must in Amsterdam. The smoked ribs are next-level... tender, juicy, and packed with deep, smoky flavor that stays with you long after you’ve finished. They fall off the bone but still have that perfect char from the grill. Pair them with the house garlic butter and sauce, and it’s pure heaven. The pork is just as impressive... generous portions, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with real skill. You can tell everything is made over open flame and done the old-school way. And don’t skip the De Manke Monnik beer... it pairs beautifully with the ribs, balancing the smoky richness with a smooth, malty finish. Between the food, the drinks, and the lively, rustic atmosphere, this place delivers one of the most memorable meals in Amsterdam. Totally worth the wait! The place itself is small, loud, and full of energy...exactly what you’d expect from a legendary spot like this.

We visited Café De Klos for a meal after hearing about it from friends, while we were in Amsterdam for two days after the holidays, right in the middle of a weather disruption. It’s a small restaurant—more of a bistro—with lots of wood in the interior décor, very few tables, an open kitchen, an interesting bar, nice music, and friendly, attentive staff. It was late in the afternoon, and we chose the onion soup. Simply wonderful—beautifully gratinéed cheese on top, perfectly cooked, and well-balanced in salt. It was served with white bread (my only minor complaint). We also ordered a dark beer and a glass of white wine—both satisfactory. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, especially for a restaurant located in the city center, very close to one of Amsterdam’s canals. Prices were reasonable for what we had, although anyone ordering a meat dish should expect to pay over 30 euros. The experience left us extremely satisfied. A pleasant surprise at the end was meeting the Greek chef of the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit! 🎉

The escargot and onion soup was delicious!!!! Service is amazing, extremely attentive and fun. The normal ribs was our favorite (the other one was more tough) - it was yummy but not out of this world however the starters, service and comfortable ambiance definitely made up for it. This is our third time visiting and inside seating is definitely the best. Would recommend a visit!

Amazing meal here. Limited menu, but they do what they do so well. The French onion soup was incredible, followed by really tasty meaty ribs All complemented by really lovely staff

I had a great time at Café de Klos with my friends last week during my trip to Amsterdam. The staff had a great sense of humour, which helped create a wonderful ambiance. A bit pricy, but the food was truly amazing. I had a mixed plate, and it was difficult to pick the best ribs (though I think I have a slight preference for the smoked).
