19th-century building housing Dutch Golden Age painting masterpieces & vast European art collection.via Google

The city’s essential art museum, strongest for Dutch masters, decorative arts, and the sense of scale that Amsterdam’s history deserves.

The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is an outstanding museum and an absolute must-visit. The collection is beautifully curated and takes you on a fascinating journey through Dutch art and history. Seeing masterpieces like Rembrandt’s The Night Watch in person is truly unforgettable. The building itself is stunning, spacious, and well organized, making the visit enjoyable even when it’s busy. The staff is professional and helpful, and all facilities are well managed. I highly recommend booking the museum’s guided tour (costing €7.50). It lasts about one hour and offers an excellent overview of the main masterpieces, providing deeper insight and context that truly enhances the experience. It’s definitely worth the small additional fee. Plan to spend at least a few hours here to fully appreciate everything. A highlight of any trip to Amsterdam!

I visited Rijksmuseum on Monday morning around 10 a.m., and there weren't many people. There was no line at the ticket counter or the entrance. The museum is large and houses an impressive collection of art and historical artifacts. I enjoyed exploring the many exhibits and would recommend allowing several hours for your visit

Rijksmuseum is one of the most popular places to visit in Amsterdam. It is a museum about Dutch history and art and the building itself looks beautiful. Inside you can see many different things, not only paintings. There are famous artworks, old furniture, jewellery, clothes, weapons, ship models and things people used in everyday life hundreds of years ago. Some of the most famous things to see are The Night Watch by Rembrandt van Rijn and The Milkmaid by Johannes Vermeer. You can also see paintings by Vincent van Gogh, beautiful old doll houses, Delft blue pottery and rooms made to look like old Dutch homes. One of the nicest parts is the Gallery of Honour, where many famous paintings are shown together in one long hall. The museum is very big, so most people spend about 2–4 hours there. There is also a café and a gift shop with souvenirs and books. Tickets are usually around €25 for adults, and visitors under 18 enter for free. Overall, it is a really nice place because there is a lot more than just art, and everyone can find something interesting inside.

Having visited many museums across Europe this one is my favourite! Loved the collection of paintings especially River view by Moonlight! My God.. these paintings moved me towards pursuing art! Also they have a picnic room where you could draw and colour with the help of props provided by the Museum! We as adults enjoyed it along with the other children.. also lucky enough to have seen the folklore group performance ❤️Must visit.. love love it! Reservation mandatory

What an amazing place to visit. Don't expect to see it all. Great audio tour you can purchase w tickets(6.50 euro) OR take your Bluetooth headphones and it's free through the app. Punch in the number of the pauting and hear commentary. Expect crowds around most of the artwork. Nice gift shop and small replica paintings you can purchase for your home, 99 euro. Nice restaurant if you get hungry. Personally, I could only spend one hour but the art is amazing and an impressive collection. Be sure to see on the 2nd floor room 2.08(I think), Vision of Zacharias in the Temple. The Rijksmuseum has officially authenticated the 1633 painting Vision of Zacharias in the Temple as a genuine work by Rembrandt van Rijn, bringing a "lost" masterpiece back to light after 65 years in private, unknown collections. The 58 x 48 cm oil-on-panel piece was previously dismissed as a copy in 1960, but high-tech analysis confirmed its authenticity.
