We ended up coming here three times during our stay in Barcelona—and that says everything. Each time we didn’t make a reservation, so we had to wait in line for quite a while, but it was absolutely worth it. The nice touch is that while you’re waiting, you can grab a glass of wine or a beer, which definitely makes the time pass more pleasantly. Sitting at the counter is an experience in itself—you get a front-row view of the chefs in action, and the whole vibe feels more relaxed and authentic. The team clearly knows what they’re doing. Even from behind the counter, the service is efficient, confident, and high quality. Food-wise—don’t miss the scallops with foie gras and definitely try the squid with chickpeas. Both were outstanding. Highly recommend!
Fantastic produce served with a touch of class. Waited inside in a queue, but getting a sangria on tap and looking at the chefs in action made it fly by. There's no 'menu', the experienced staff will craft your order based on the preferences you give them, but you can always point at something or ask and they'll provide. While the produce and dishes are brilliant, it was the class, care, and efficiency of the place that really stood out to me. Leave room at the end for a creme de catalan!
Wonderful meal and overall experience here. We were able to secure a table right upon opening. Our server, Jordan, was so cheerful and helpful throughout dinner! I especially loved the langostines, sirloin, and cheesecake. Clams and octopus were an incredible hit! High recommendation on this place! Also there are many nice bars and shops very close by for before or after your dinner.
Popular Catalan restaurant packed with locals and visitors alike, serving hearty traditional dishes, great wine, and buzzing energy. Loud, lively, crowded — but absolutely worth it for the atmosphere alone. It only takes reservations for groups larger than 4 persons.
I’m always a little anxious when I try a place with the level of renown of Cal Pep for the first time. Will it really live up to the reputation? Will the crowd ruin the experience? Will the staff betray a whiff of a restaurant that is buckling under the weight of expectations? Nothing could be farther from the truth here. This is an excellent restaurant. The service is dialed in; attentive, fast and friendly. The dishes you have heard about are as good as you are expecting. It’s not that hard to get a reservation, really. The prices are reasonable! Sometimes a restaurant is exactly as good as you’ve heard, and you get it immediately. This is a place like that. Don’t miss it!
