White, light-filled building housing art from the 1940s to the present & a large Catalan collection.via Google

A striking white building designed by Richard Meier, housing an impressive collection of late 20th-century art.

Good to know
€€; minimalist and intellectual; the plaza outside is a global hub for street skateboarding.

In the vibrant heart of El Raval, the MACBA - Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona is a must-visit for contemporary art lovers and anyone seeking a deeper look into the creative pulse of Barcelona. Designed by American architect Richard Meier, the striking white building stands out against the historic fabric of the neighborhood. Its clean lines, expansive glass walls, and abundant natural light create a minimalist setting that allows the artwork to take center stage. The permanent collection spans decades of artistic experimentation, with a strong focus on the second half of the 20th century through to today’s most thought-provoking expressions. Installations, video art, photography, and conceptual works engage in a dynamic dialogue that challenges and inspires. The temporary exhibitions—carefully curated and often bold—ensure that every visit feels fresh and unexpected. Yet MACBA is more than a museum. Outside, the square comes alive with skaters, students, and creatives, transforming the space into a vibrant urban stage. This ongoing exchange between art and city life is what makes the experience truly unique. For TasteToBe, MACBA is not just a cultural stop—it’s a place to embrace curiosity, creativity, and new perspectives. A contemporary landmark that captures the ever-evolving spirit of Barcelona.

Visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona was one of the most inspiring and unforgettable experiences of my trip! The atmosphere is simply incredible - full of light, space, and creativity. Each exhibition invites you to think, feel, and experience art without limits. The collections are curated with amazing taste, featuring avant-garde pieces, installations, video art, and performances that truly captivate. The architecture of the museum itself adds a special charm - modern, bold, and perfectly in tune with the artworks inside. The staff are friendly and helpful, and everything is very well organized. Take your time to walk around, observe, and enjoy. A must-visit place for anyone who loves art and wants to be inspired!
