If you only have time for one food stop in Barcelona, make it Quimet & Quimet. This tiny, family-run bodega in Poble Sec is more than just a tapas bar—it’s a legendary culinary experience that has been perfected over five generations. The atmosphere is electric. It’s a standing-room-only spot where the walls are lined floor-to-ceiling with an incredible selection of wines and spirits. You’ll likely be shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and fellow travelers, which only adds to the authentic, lively charm. The food is the real star, specializing in high-end conservas (gourmet tinned seafood) and montaditos. Pair your bites with their house vermouth or a glass of crisp Cava. The staff is incredibly efficient and handles the crowd with impressive speed and personality. Pro-tip: It’s small and very popular, so arrive 15 minutes before they open to snag a spot at the bar. There are no reservations, and the one-hour limit keeps things moving quickly. It’s fast, loud, and absolutely delicious!

If you’re in the Poble-Sec neighborhood, definitely stop here. It’s quite small inside so we waited in line outside for about 15 minutes before getting standing room at the counter. We ordered a variety of tapas and the jerked beef was for sure at the top of my list, but everything was delicious! Great service and our server has happy to answer questions and guide us. Definitely get a glass of the house vermouth!

One of the best if not the best tapas place with a great wine selection. Quim, who is the 5th generation running the place, gave us great recommendations and we ended up asking him to just keep bringin what he wanted. He knows his menu we'll and kept surprising us through the 1h slot we were allowed. It's walk in only and may need to wait, but it's definitely worth it!

We started our Tapas Adventure in Barcelona at Quimet & Quimet on Saturday night. It was packed, but the service was awesome. Our orders came out super fast. We stood shoulder to shoulder along the counter, enjoying great wine or beers just like the locals in Catalonia. We loved the experience and totally recommend this place.

You have one hour dining time, no seats inside and it’s a standing bar. You place 3 plates with the waiters first, because the table is small, once you’re done you can place the next round. That usually brings the dishes quite quickly. Everything here is from cans, so no hot food. My favourite was the salmon yogurt caviar small sandwich, the shellfish ones were very fishy and I didn’t like that I could taste the ocean. The goose liver with chestnut starter was very yummy as well, they were a match made in heaven, chestnuts and mushrooms neutralises the smell from goose liver.
