They treated us well and the space is really classic lively. The ceilings are high, the signs are street market, and the vibe is a bit on the loose side. As for the drinks, they're all good but I realize now that speciality cocktail in Argentina means clarified. All the drinks have this same sense of trying to dampen the liquor with washing and clarification. As a result I can't tease apart the flavors of the cocktails the way I can with a mixed drink. They serve good drinks here, but I think the world's best 50 in Latin America may just be a list of cocktails that don't tell you their inner feelings.
I’ve visited over 50 of the world’s best bars in 26 countries. Of course, you’re in Argentina—don’t forget that. Yes, it’s not Paris, New York, or Moscow. But I really enjoyed the cocktails. The menu has a great balance and a well-thought-out concept. And I even got lucky with the service. I definitely recommend it. Don’t expect a fancy or speakeasy-style atmosphere. It all depends on the day and time of your visit. But I was satisfied. Unlike the neighboring top bar, they play good house music in the evenings here, and the semi-club atmosphere is actually quite enjoyable.
Having been terribly disappointed the previous night with Bar Tres Monos we arrived at CoChinChina with low expectations. How wrong we were: we loved the modern setting, well lit bar and choice of cocktails. The staff were chatty and very friendly. We had two cocktails each from their house menu and they were all top notch (one of them was called La Vida que me Merezco and the other was Penicillin something or other). Our only minor criticism is that they are not open on Sundays as we would have liked to return before leaving BA.
This bar lives up to the hype…fab Argentinian design with an Asian flair, feels a bit Singapore crossed with NYC. Cristal our bartender was personable and friendly..hospo at its best! Even got a restaurant rec from her! The cocktails next level..a peanut infused old fashioned and a jasmine tea with whiskey and umeshu number that kicked ass…we will be back!
Cristal was great, everything else not so much. My sister and I visited because this bar was on the world’s top cocktail bar list. We went around 9pm- I loved the atmosphere but you could tell it gets clubby (and influencer galore) later at night. I first had the Blend de las Buenos and my sister had the En casa de. The En casa de was fantastic, but the Blend de las Buenos wasn’t as mezcal forward as I expected. We also tried the Alforsina, which was chocolate forward but it was decent enough. The worst part of our experience was a male bartender (bleach blonde hair tips) that was so pushy. We were unsure if we wanted to eat so we reviewed the menu. He came over 4-5 times while we were reviewing the menu to check in on us. When we decided we didn’t want anything to eat, he asked us if we don’t like the menu - rather than accepting we just didn’t want to eat. I’d say pass, Tres Monos (ranked #10) was better and much less pretentious.
