Beautiful book store. El Ateneo Grand Splendid is one of the most breathtaking bookstores in the world. Housed in a former theater, its ornate balconies and frescoed ceiling are stunning. The stage turned café is a perfect spot to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Browsing books here feels more like a cultural experience than shopping. A must-visit landmark in Buenos Aires for book lovers and architecture fans alike.
This bookstore is absolutely stunning—set inside a former theater, it feels like stepping into a living piece of art. The preserved balconies, ceiling details, and stage create a magical atmosphere while you browse. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s 100% worth visiting just to experience the space. One of the most unique bookstores I’ve ever seen.
This is really an incredible bookstore in a beautiful, historic theater. They have books of all kinds and in other languages besides Spanish. It's wonderful to see the preserved details of the theater. In a time in which so many bookstores are closing, this one is thriving. Any book lover who visits Argentina should visit this place! I have seen bookstores all over the world and this one is truly amazing.
This is easily one of the most stunning bookstores in the world, set right inside an old opera house. Pictures simply don't do it justice; you have to see it in person. It retains all of its original charm; the moldings, ceiling artwork, curtains, and balconies are all intact, and the main stage is now a Havana café! Even if you don't read much Spanish, it is incredibly worth the visit just to roam the space and admire the architecture. You can even sit up on the balconies to read. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in Buenos Aires.
This place is probably the most stunning bookstore on the planet! Buenos Aires has outdone itself once again. The bookstore is in an old theatre. The architecture is magnificent. They have every kind of book imaginable. In an age where everything is digital it’s impressive to see such a collection of books under one roof. My only disappointment was I wish I would have had more time to enjoy this place.
