Really fancy and beautiful store. The guided tour to the museum was full, and it’s the only way to visit it. I went on a Friday. Perfumes are delicious and very expensive. There is this nobel atmosphere that they like to keep the tradition.
Amazing Museum! Interesting tour in different languages with aroma "tasting". Remember to book a place beforehand, it is popular place. Prices are cheaper during weekdays. Anyway it is worthy to go as you got a sample of Cologne water. Inside there is a shop where you can buy not only Cologne water but also other parfumes (50 euro per 1).
The museum is connected directly to its perfume shop, and there isn’t a designated waiting area before your session starts. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, arriving just a few minutes early is fine. If you arrive too early, there isn’t much to do besides browsing the shop. The tour itself was very engaging. Our guide shared plenty of German jokes, not very funny but very German ( in a good way lol ). In the perfumer’s workshop, you’re encouraged to ask questions and try different ingredients and scents. It was extremely informative and well-explained. I highly recommend it.
The English tour was such a delight! I found out so many interesting and cool facts about perfume making. The history of Farina is fascinating.
The overall experience was an absolute joy - one of our favorite parts of our trip to Cologne. I highly, highly recommend taking one of the perfume workshops! We took the two-person private workshop and we learned so much--our facilitator Weibke was absolutely wonderful. The store staff was also so warm and friendly, and we enjoyed the museum tour. Though brief (and I wish there was more time to explore the exhibits during the tour or the opportunity to linger after), the historically-dressed guide Tobias was hilarious and made the experience so much fun.
