We always wanted to try this place out so we came down on a weekday. It does feel like a touristy attraction but the meal was fantastic. The gravy sauce was the biggest highlight. As we came here before opening we didn't wait too long. All the food came out promptly and the service was wonderful. The only thing that disappointed us was that the tables were too close together so it was quite a challenge getting in and out. I would come back, but I don't think it's worth queing for steak and fries, but definitely place to try out.
Didn’t wait at all. Got here just after 12pm for lunch. The waitress was really nice kind and pretty I must say. Service was great. The whole hype of having just steak and chips, I get it, but it really doesn’t have an amazing out of the world taste on the steak itself it’s bland. The sauce was very interesting. I wouldn’t say it elevated the taste but the pairing wasn’t great either. I prefer Swiss butter and their steak and sauce taste better. Not bothered if it’s halal or not. Salad wasn’t something crazy fresh and mustard taste. Bread is similar to your usual Lidl. I must say the best thing we enjoyed was the COKE OMG. I don’t know what it was but it tasted like the drinks you would get abroad On a hot sunny day. Overall do it once so it’s ticked off your bucket list but I won’t come again.
Nice restaurant for steak and fries. We went on a Thursday at 2pm and there was no queue! We were promptly seated, they explained the menu, and the service was very quick. We felt slightly rushed but better than having to wait so no problem there. All the tables are quite close together and the space feels a bit cramped. The steak was delicious and the fries perfectly cooked! They serve a 2nd service, I only asked for more steak because I still had fries (it is very well served!). The creme brulee was also delicious. Nice clean toilet too. Overall a nice place to eat steak and fries in London. The bill came at 90£ for two.
We came to get in the line at 5:30 pm, 30 minutes before it opens on Saturday. The line was quite long and there was staff to organise the queue. We got seated around 6:10 pm. The waiters will explain that they have only one set menu, how would you like your steak cooked, and ask if you want any drinks. The starter is salad which overall is good but nothing special. Then they will serve you the steak. The steaks were cooked perfectly for all of us with the correct doneness and of course they are tender. The sauce is very tasty and should be the reason the come back here again. Personally, they use the right amount of butter in the sauce. Not too much, not too little. After you finish your steak, they will serve a second round with about half of the first round. In total, you will be served a normal portion (200 g I guess). The desserts are good as well and worth to try the ones with photo on the menu. Almost forgot to mention that the staff is professional. I also just came back from Paris. The decorations and atmosphere made me feel like I was in Paris again. Lastly, I think it is worth to try once and if you really like it, come back here again. For me I think it is a little bit too expensive but I gave a 5 stars anyways.
All top scores and very well deserved. Forget about the reviews criticizing the food or the seating area or the wait time. This is a whole experience from lining up for over 45 mins to an hour, chit-chatting while waiting, then getting into a theatre-like atmosphere, receiving very well reception, service, and hosting, the allocated time flows smoothly, eating delicious food and leaving the restaurant with a “well-done” choice of dining. Go for it as a “lifetime experience”, you’ll not regret it. YW.
