Mildred's, Soho: is a Vegan Gem situated in the heart of London If you are vegan, or even vegan-curious, Mildred's in Soho deserves a prominent spot on your dining list. It sits in a tall, thin listed townhouse on Lexington Street -- not something you'd easy stumble on when walking along. It's very easy to miss, but you could argue that is part of the surprise factor. The building spans several storeys. We sat on the first floor. The atmosphere inside is charming -- busy but a laid-back dining room emanating pure Soho vibes. The menu is internationally inspired, drawing on flavours from Sri Lanka to Korea to Mexico, and it is presented with panache. The quality and intensity of the flavours can easily win over omnivores too. The service was a genuine highlight of our visit. Our waiter was attentive and genuinely engaged, steering us through the menu with well-judged recommendations and ensuring we ordered the right amount and an exciting mix of dishes -- exactly the kind of guidance that makes the difference between a good meal and a great one. Prices are, predictably for this location, on the higher side -- a main can run to around £16-18 -- but, as other diners have noted, this is very much in line with what you would expect for the area. Given the quality of ingredients, the creativity on the plate and the Soho postcode, it feels fair. Mildred's is a must-visit institution for vegans!
I had such a wonderful experience at Mildreds Soho. Tucked away on Lexington Street in the heart of Soho, the location is absolutely beautiful and perfect for a relaxed meal out. The decor is stylish yet cosy, and the whole place has a really chilled, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive without ever feeling overbearing, which really elevated the experience. As for the food — absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the tacos and the Korean burger, both packed with flavour and beautifully presented. The lemon pepper fries were a standout too — perfectly seasoned and completely addictive. Everything was washed down with a crisp white wine that paired perfectly with the meal. It’s easy to see why Mildreds has built such a strong reputation as one of London’s go-to vegan spots. I’ll definitely be back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for fantastic plant-based food in a relaxed Soho setting.
Super delicious! First time at a vegan restaurant and was very pleasantly surprised! As someone who has only recently decided to embrace a more plant based diet, I thought I’d be able to pick the foods apart and make comparisons but in fact they proved me wrong! The arancini was absolutely delicious, my husband had the Pilau and devoured it in under 10 minutes, I had the Caesar burger and again was delicious! Will definitely be back for other special occasions
Mildreds was surprisingly very good - a cute little spot in Soho. For apps, we had the arancini and the BBQ corn, both were delicious. I found their tacos to be a little too dry. The mains were so good. We had the Korean fried chicken burger (which was HUGE, by the way), the beetroot burger, and the tofu salad. The burgers were very good, but boy, when I took a bite of my friend’s salad, I fell in love. It was refreshing, the flavors were yum, and I’m drooling a bit rn thinking about it. 🤤 The staff were extremely quick, kind, and sweet. There’s lots of seating, although the downstairs area was quite packed. Overall, I loved the ambience of the place!
We visited for dinner and found the restaurant quite busy and a little noisy, which made conversation slightly challenging. That said, the staff were attentive and friendly throughout the evening. We started with the padrón peppers, which were very enjoyable. The BBQ corn ribs were a highlight—crispy, slightly sweet, and pleasantly tangy. Of the four mains we ordered, the kiri hodi pilau stood out most for both presentation and flavour, with a coconut curry that had a well-judged level of spice. The amba chicken kebab was a close second, offering a good balance of flavours and textures. The enchiladas and mushroom pot pie were decent, though less memorable than the other dishes. Overall, a solid dining experience with a few standout plates, especially if you don’t mind a lively atmosphere.
