I would genuinely put the home style cabbage at Silk Road up there with my top fave dishes in London. It’s that good. The whole vibe of Silk Road is fantastic - amazing portion sizes, super speedy service, friendly and helpful staff. Arrive hungry and try lots of things - you will not be disappointed!!
The food here is quite good but depending on which dish you order - we love the hand pulled noodles delicious but one of the dish we ordered , shish lamb noodle dish doesn’t have much flavour apart form cumin - I would not recommend this dish. Having said that the other dishes were really good. I would definitely recommend this place but choose your dish wisely.
We were big fans of this place in its rustic former incarnation, so worried about the refurbishment, but fears were unfounded. It’s been done really tastefully and the food is better than we remembered it. Somehow the prices don’t seem to have been bumped up for the renovation either. The pork with black fungus, as well as the aubergine were particularly memorable.
The food smelled great and the restaurant was surprisingly nice and modern. They seemed to have a lot of lamb on the menu but when we got the dish it was definitely beef being sold as lamb with hardly much meat in general. As a chef myself I can tell the difference. Also ordered what was supposed to be chive and shrimp dumplings but again lacking the protein and seemed to be mainly just chives. To end, the waiters could be friendlier.
Don't get the hype. Food is quite oily and service is average. Good for those who love the szechuan peppers flavour and looking for a quick feed. Portion sizes, especially the noodles are large and prices are decent but unsure if this worth travelling out of the way for. Would have liked more protein in the noodles and more flavour in the cucumber salad
