Despite holding a Michelin Star, what impressed us most was the staff's attitude: incredibly down-to-earth, attentive, and never stuffy. It’s rare to find a venue of this calibre that feels so welcoming. A special mention goes to the kitchen for their dietary management: one of our party is coeliac, and the menu was adapted perfectly to their needs without any fuss, making us feel completely at ease while maintaining top-tier quality for everyone. The food was outstanding. The seasonal menu is intriguing, with ingredients (especially the game) treated with absolute mastery. If you are looking for fine-dining quality with the warmth of a pub, this is the place. Booking in advance is highly recommended. A true example of hospitality.
I visited the restaurant during the British Game Week. The game tasting menu was so good. Creative from traditional recipes, and careful execution of dishes that require techniques and craft. Portion size was generous. Super good value for money for such innovative presentation of British cuisines.
The quality of the ingredients was 11/10! We had the special Cote de boeuf and the Iberian ham for the two roasts. We ordered a lot of Starters the highlight was the scotch egg, crisps and salmon roe and the trout was unreal. I would’ve loved a fresh salad to cut through all the meal but that’s my preference. Really delicious roast but the price point is a bit much IMO.
Good - Guinness (excellent),tart tatin, cauliflower, service, espresso martini, Gusbourne Blanc de noir and gravy. Average - Roast potatoes, meat portions Below Average- Bloody Mary ( give it some love - this was more Karen than a Mary) Decent feed but last time I checked rations finished mid 1954. Less spuds more protein🙏
Overall, I had a great time. The pub is in quite a secluded area so it was quite cozy and intimate. The decor already really added to that, you could definitely see lots of love and care was put into the details. The waiters were super attentive and lovely. In terms of food, the Guinness soda bread was phenomenal and the starters we ordered (scallops and quail) were delicious. The standards of roast in London are quite high and honestly when it came to our main course roast, I found it to be just “okay”. We ordered the Ibierco and the venison roasts, the venison definitely stood out more but besides that probably wouldn’t come back on a Sunday just for the roast. Despite saying that would however be very interested to try the main menu.
