Not only the best burger in L.A. - but maybe the best in the USA! And great throwback vibe! I went back to the Pan for the first time in years - and the hickory burger was awesome as usual! I used to go here in the 1980s on a regular basis, always for the hickory burger (best in LA), fries, a doctor pepper, and a slice of pie - and I have never been disappointed. One of the things I like best about the burger is grilled bun, crunchy fresh lettuce wedge, and the melting Tillamook cheddar. The apple pie a la mode can’t be beat, and the banana cream pie is still amazing! There are other burgers and sandwiches on the menu which I have heard are delicious - but I always get the hickory burger! Almost nothing has changed - even the same waiter - who still pours the ketchup for you! Two updates since the 80s - it used to be cash only, now cash is no longer accepted - only credit cards or e-pay, and it used to be closed on Mondays. Also, the paper cone drinking cups have been replaced with glasses. They’ve added outdoor seating in the back. The inside vibe is still like stepping into the 1950s and a nice blast from the past. Seating is limited, but if you arrive early enough before the lunch rush you won’t have to wait. You can find parking on the street - just be careful not to park in a no parking zone. Pro-tip: ask for your fries to be cooked crispy.

I will definitely be back. This place lived up to the hype and the food was fresh and delicious. Got the steak burger added cheese and the Pumpkin cream pie. The burger was well balanced and all the ingredients were fresh. The Pumpkin cream pie was not to sweet and covered in whip cream. The crowd was a good mix of locals and tourists. Make this place a priority.

Been wanting to pop by for years and finally did on a rainy Saturday night. Just walk in, sit at the counter, grab a menu and someone will come by and take your order. Lovely staff and a warm cozy feel. There's a takeout window outside too on the side of the building. We tried a hickory burger, steak burger, fries and some pecan pie w/ ice cream. The burgers where hot, delicious, and beefy, even as a single, and the hickory burger really had smoky hickory flavor making it stand out from something like In N Out or five guys.. I would skip the steak burger next time and get a couple hickory burgers. The fries where crispy and tasty, and perfect after a liberal sprinkle of salt from the shakers. Nothing special, but no notes. The pecan pie was the only pie available that night, but damn it was so sooo good... It seems like they may use maple syrup instead of just corn syrup in the pecan binder... The filling, the crust, the ice cream .. just perfection. I'm not really a sweets guy and I have found myself thinking about that pie the last few days. They have gone cashless, so bring a card, but go here! It's been around for something like 80 years for a good reason.

The Apple Pan is a time machine. You step in and you're transported to a different time and a different place when quality meant something. They do everything the same way they have always done it. The menu is tiny but perfected. The pies sell out daily. There is only counter seating, first come first serve. The staff is great. I believe a lot of them have been working at the Apple Pan for a very long time, because by all accounts it's a quality company that treats employees well. I love that this burger joint exists. It makes me nostalgic for a time I never knew. And it's absolutely delicious.

The burger is like a slightly better version of in-n-out, thicker patty, not too greasy, bun holds up well. Wish it came with tomato. Love their slightly thicker fries. Their apple pie was standard. Their service is so friendly and efficient. The atmosphere has a nostalgic touch that makes it special.
