We had just gone ice-skating at Pershing Square and popped in here for lunch. It’s on the rooftop of the free hand hotel. Nice little outside patio with a cute little bar right next to the pool and lounge chairs. Groovy music was playing. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Wonderful views of the city. Prices are steep, but kind of expected at a rooftop poolside café. We both got the fried chicken sandwich and the aïoli and pickles and bun were just delicious, but the piece of chicken seem to have mostly breading on it and very little chicken. I think it was also overcooked because they were black portions in between the cracks of breading and all over it. That needs work. Fries were good. Overall, a nice experience.

My friend was visiting from out of town and got a room at The Freehand Hotel/Hostel which is where the Broken Shaker sits on top of. It is located at the very top floor. Aside of the little bar they have there is also a pool with lounge chairs and the set up is really cool. It is a rather small space but theres music and the drinks were really good. The service was fast but kind of kept to themselves. They were still nice though. We had a couple drinks and felt it out. We wanted more of a setting where we could socialize more and get ourselves into party mode and maybe we just went on the wrong day but it felt very low key and calm here lol. But overall it is a cool tucked away little spot and drinks are yummy. I think we paid about $17 per drink.

Went to Broken Shaker last night and it did not disappoint. Daniel was our server, super nice and attentive. It got a little chilly outside and he even offered us a blanket which was so thoughtful. We were starving and ordered the carne asada fries and ahi tuna poke… both were bomb! And the spicy mezcal margarita? Sooo gooood!!! 10/10 night!

ROOFTOP WITH KILLER VIEW!! Food - 4 Service - 4 Ambiance - 5 Price-quality-ratio - 4.5 If you’re looking for a rooftop bar with a killer view of downtown LA, Broken Shaker is the spot. The vibe here is laid-back yet stylish, with colorful decor, twinkling lights, and a pool that adds to the atmosphere. Whether you come during the day to soak up the sun or at night to take in the city skyline, the setting is hard to beat. The drinks are solid—creative, refreshing, and well-balanced. Whether you’re into tropical cocktails or something with a little spice, there’s something on the menu for you. The presentation is also on point, with fresh herbs and unique garnishes that make each drink feel special. Food-wise, they have some great bites to go along with your drinks. The chips and salsa hit the spot, and there are a few other options worth trying if you’re feeling snacky. It’s not necessarily a full-on dining experience, but it definitely complements the drinks well. Overall, Broken Shaker is one of the best rooftop bars in LA for a relaxed yet fun night out. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s worth checking out for the views alone—but the drinks and vibe will make you want to stay.

This is a pass. We ordered two espresso martinis that were priced at around $17 each. It came out in what seemed like plastic round cups instead of martini glasses. It also tasted like they poured the drink in from a premade container and it was underwhelming at best. It tasted and looked like a $10 drink that I could’ve done a better job doing with at home. We also had to ask for water three times. Then the bill came with an automatic 18% service charge. We went to Florentin rooftop after where I knew the espresso martinis are really good and we were much happier.
