Pedestrian mall designed in Chinese style featuring a variety of Asian shops & restaurants.via Google

A neon-lit, highly stylized historic plaza built in the late 1930s, featuring traditional Chinese architecture designed by Hollywood set designers.

Good to know
Free public space; highly atmospheric at night when the neon is lit.

We had such a fun experience at the Chinatown Central plaza! On the night we were there it was the night market. There were a number of vendors and they had a DJ keeping things lively. We did have some boba tea and some chicken and pork skewers. Another thing we tried that was interesting that we never had was sweet potato balls. I highly recommend checking out this place it was a lot of fun.

This plaza has seen better days. Paint peeling, and whole place in need of a makeover. It’s mostly old mom and pop gift shops with clothing, antiques and knock knacks. There’re a few new shops.

Only went at night, in the rain, and everything was closed lol but it was still absolutely beautiful. So much history!

We totally missed Chinatown on Sunday during regular hours, but guess what? We stumbled upon this incredible street full of locals having karaoke and enjoying delicious local food. It was an absolute blast! It was super entertaining and a truly unique experience!
