While this space might prove slightly disappointing to those who are not specialists in—or deeply passionate about—architecture, design, or the arts, it was an incredibly fascinating destination for professionals and architecture enthusiasts alike. The sheer opportunity to see the Case Study Houses in person, one by one, made the visit entirely worthwhile.

Great 90min tour. We learned a lot about the house and the materials used to built it. It's truly a beautiful site, right on a meadow by the ocean, so you can see why they loved it. Beautifully designed and furnished, as you can imagine. The tour was about 45min of history and 45min of walking around. Don't be turned off by their terribly unfriendly website and emails, and the seemingly huge number of rules. They're pretty strict but if you get tickets ahead of time and know where to park, it's totally fine. They do have a fancy portable bathroom, in case you drove a while to get there. Just hope the weather holds up because there's truly no changing dates or cancelling with a refund.

I visited the house twice in 2021 in 2023, and i can tell they are putting a lot of effort in conservation. The only difference I noticed was the absence of Eames fiberglass chairs in the meadow. The tour was informative, but I felt it was too brief. I’d recommend asking additional questions after the tour as staffs are always willing to provide more information. I was pleased to see the back street of the house open again after being closed for restoration in 2021. You can find the floor tiles restored in good shape.

Magical afternoon exploring the home of Charles and Ray Eames, Case Study House #8, perched above the Pacific on a 1.5 acre lot in the Palisades. Great background and story on their life and design process for this house. Note: you can’t go into the house, it is an exterior tour only. Also to protect the fragility of the interior, you can’t take pictures of the interior, but they do open the door to let you look inside the 1500 sq ft home, each item exactly where Charles and Ray placed them when living there. I loved our 1.5 hours there, the Eames Foundation could even provide more curation, our tour guide was very knowledgeable but was very soft spoken. Maybe a wireless mic? There is a bathroom and limited seating (two chairs) and walking on some uneven gravel paths without handrails (if you are or are coming with someone older or disabled, just know it is not accessible really)

Well managed Modern architecture memorial site. Can feel why Eames built the house here. Student special price $10 Adult $30 Need a reservation before visit Guided tour 90min. No parking lot, so need a street parking nearby. Google map guided a wrong entrance. Please follow as the Eames house homepage directions.
