This is such a unique dining experience. Their all vegetarian menu is excellent. The menu can vary, so I can only comment on what we were served. While I liked the entire menu, here are some highlights. We had Brussel sprouts roasted on the stock. This was covered with a slightly spicy sauce. One picked it up with the one’s fingers to eat each sprout. After finishing the sprouts, the stalk was turned over and the soft core was scooped out with a marrow spoon I did not know the core was edible! Root vegetable chips with sauce and a type of coleslaw were delicious. The dessert course featured a spice cake, sorbet and a coconut pudding. This was excellent! The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. I will not soon forget our visit and can’t wait to return.

Wonderful dining experience here! The staff was great, the food was excellent. I wasn’t particularly impressed with either one of the soupy dishes; but everything else was unreal. The off-the-menu chips course was sooo addictive. Loved that the tip was already included. Tipping has gotten out of control. We’ll be back!

I’ve been here three times (Winter and Summer previously), and this season’s Fall tasting menu is the best yet. Truly phenomenal, abounding with creative flavor combinations and textures, and genuinely elevating the vegetables that serve as the base. The cauliflower dessert is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, and the candied beets and curry, the onion tart, and mushroom dish were standout as well. The kitchen always does an amazing job with the surprise dishes too, from radish carpaccio to sesame dumplings. Highly recommend the desert sunrise as an NA cocktail, and try to get a seat at the chef’s counter. Also love a restaurant that pays its workers a living wage and includes gratuity. Please go!

I’m giving Dirt Candy in New York a full five stars, and honestly, it deserves every bit of that rating. The food here is exceptional — creative, flavorful, and executed with real precision. Every dish feels unique, thoughtful, and beautifully balanced. The atmosphere is relaxed but polished, making it an easy place to enjoy a long, satisfying meal without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. One thing I strongly recommend is choosing the wine pairing. Each course comes with a different wine selected specifically to match the flavors of the dish, and they absolutely nail it. The pairings elevate the food instead of overpowering it. You can tell the team put real effort into curating drinks that enhance the entire dining experience. If you’re coming here, don’t skip that option — it’s worth it. The service was outstanding. The staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they were serving. Dirt Candy is a no-tip restaurant, which I respect, but my server took such good care of me that I felt compelled to insist on giving her something extra. It took a bit of convincing, but she eventually accepted it with a big smile, and I could tell it truly made her day. That level of kindness and professionalism deserves recognition. Dirt Candy isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a place to appreciate food. If you’re looking for an excellent dining experience in New York, this spot should be at the top of your list.

Absolute magic. I have never eaten a meal where individual vegetables are the hero. The mushroom course was a spiritual experience for my husband and I. The flavors are unlike anything I’ve had before. Clinton was the absolute best.
