Walking into Double Chicken Please after Superbueno (#12 in the world, no big deal) could have been intimidating, but it more than held its own. The hosts were fantastic. Shout-out to the hostess in the Moncler puffer who runs that door like a benevolent air traffic controller. Kind, attentive, efficient, and somehow warm while managing the chaos. We started in the Free Range section where the vibe is lively and the popcorn chicken and cucumbers are the ideal salty, crunchy companions to the playful drinks. The servers were sharp and present without hovering, which is an art. Once we moved into the Coop, the night leveled up. The cocktails are inventive and food-inspired in a way that actually works, not just for the gimmick. Samuel treated us like long-lost family, generous with his time and genuinely engaging, which made the whole experience feel special rather than transactional. Ending on the key lime pie was the exact right call. Creative, high-energy, and genuinely hospitable. Double Chicken Please is absolutely worth the visit and the return trip.
Hospitality: 5 stars ⭐️ Cocktails: 5 stars ⭐️ Food: 5 stars ⭐️ One of my favorite bars. It is one of the 50 best bars in the world. Most try their fried chicken 🐔🍗 🐓delicious, juicy, and flavorful. When it comes to cocktails, this place has some of the most unique flavor combinations. The drinks are like having a fantastic meal: appetizer, main, and dessert cocktail options. They incorporate the flavors of famous foods into the cocktails. It is a must-have experience when visiting NYC. Shoutout to Shane, Jason, and Nigel! Great bartenders! They did an awesome job! I will say reservation is best for 2 or more. But if you are solo, walk in and enjoy a cocktail in the front bar Free Range while you are in the waiting list of the Coop back bar. The wait is worth it, trust me. FYI, Free Range and Coop cocktail menus are different but have the same food menu. This time I tried At Free Range: Cocktail #10 At Coop: Japanese Cold Noodles, Mango Sticky Rice, French Toast and DCP House Shot. For food I tried the Popcorn 🍿 Chicken 🍗
What a cool vibe!! I was not excited for a 9:30 reservation.. and am soo glad we had this experience. Apparently a very difficult place to get into and I can understand why. They put so much effort into creating every single drink and the chicken was delicious as well. We mostly had mocktails, but they were all soo unique and delicious. Nothing i have ever experienced before from the Japanese cold boodle to the burnt toast. There was no bad drink. The spicy cucumbers were soo addictive. I couldn’t stop eating them. The spicy popcorn chicken with honey was perfect. The mochi chicken sandwich was also soo delicious. Definitely recommend giving that one a try! It was a great experience, atmosphere and service.
I finally got to try Double Chicken Please in SoHo, one of the top-tier bars in the world, and it truly lived up to the hype. I went on a weekday and lined up right after they opened. Since the bar is always fully booked online, walking in at opening time was the perfect way to get a seat without a reservation. While waiting, the staff served us hot tea, which was such a nice touch especially in the winter. The vibe inside is cozy, inviting, and the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. The cocktail menu is creative and fun, divided into “appetizers,” “entrees,” and “desserts,” just like a food menu. We ordered three rounds so we could try each section. The cocktails are delicate, complex, and thoughtfully crafted. There were a few flavors we personally couldn’t get into, but overall, the experience was definitely worth it. We also ordered some food to pair with the drinks, and it matched perfectly with the cocktails. If you want to experience a bar that ranks among the top ten in the world, I highly recommend giving Double Chicken Please a visit.
Went to Double Chicken Please for dinner, and the experience was nothing short of interesting. The restaurant/bar opens at 5 PM, but even by 4:30 PM, there was already a snaking queue outside (refer to image). It took around 30 minutes before I reached the service staff at the front door. The space is divided into two sections — “Free Range” and “The Coop.” Free Range serves as a casual waiting area and bar where you can enjoy creative cocktails before getting a table inside The Coop. At Free Range, the cocktails were truly unique — inspired by cartoons and playful concepts. My friend and I tried Side Kart, Pocket of Sweets, and P.U.T.S. — all of which were refreshingly inventive and fun. Once seated inside The Coop, we ordered the Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Sandwich. The chicken patty was large and nicely battered, but I would’ve preferred a more generous amount of salted egg yolk sauce. The drink menu here is arranged like a full-course meal — starting with appetizers, then mains, and ending with dessert-inspired cocktails. We tried the Japanese Cold Noodles, and it was mind-blowing — it tasted exactly like cold soba! Definitely the highlight of the night. We also tried the Key Lime Pie and Cold Pizza cocktails, but those were just okay in comparison. Overall, it’s a fun and creative concept, blending cocktails with culinary themes in a sleek setting. That said, the price point is on the higher side, and while it was worth experiencing once, I probably wouldn’t rush back. Rating: 3.5/5 ⭐️
