I’ve lived in NY and been back countless times, and somehow this was my first visit to Gallagher’s. No idea how I waited this long. The steaks were seriously impressive. Both the tomahawk and the strip loin came out perfectly charred on the outside, tender and juicy inside, exactly what you hope for at a classic steakhouse. Easily one of the top 10 steaks I’ve ever had. That deep, smoky crust with the rich beefy flavor… so good. The bacon was decent, personally I’d love it a bit thicker but it still hit the spot. The sides were solid and generous, nothing flashy, just dependable and well done. Service was surprisingly warm and attentive, honestly better than some other old-school spots around town. The whole experience just felt right. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner. Definitely coming back.
Excellent service from Connie and Pavel who explained the menu and answered our questions, sharing great recommendations on the steak options available (on and off menu) and portions. We got the rib eye on the bone with wedge salad (we got extra cheese sauce) and a lunch menu caeser salad, 8oz fillet mignon (lean but tender, + $22 supplement), key lime pie (custardy tart goodness). They also just added a special something as it was our anniversary. The chocolate lava cake with berries was also delicious and not too sweet. Yes a lot of tourists come here but it's still well worth coming for the quality food (especially the value lunch menu), NY steakhouse authentic vibes and just nice service. We didn't see stick to the regular lunch menu so it came to just over 190 but it was certainly worth it.
Gallagher’s was a great steakhouse experience. We just flew in and wanted to find a steakhouse in Manhattan. When we arrived we were warmly greeted (we had a reservation). The staff was attentive and our waiter, Mr. Nicholas, was fantastic. We ordered: Appetizers - Crab cake (you get one giant one per order), was awesome. Great flavor and a ton of crab. Calamari - tender and lightly breaded, and a wedge salad with blue cheese - delicious. Entrees- Rib Steak, medium rare - cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Great char and incredibly tender., with sides of Mac and cheese and garlic fried green beans (this was the best side dish). It was a pricier dinner, but for the experience, quality of food, and the ambiance of a great Manhattan, New York restaurant - it was well worth it. I would highly recommend Gallagher’s, what a great dinner experience and service.
We came for the lunch special and were able to be seated early at a high table, the service from start to finish was impeccable. Our server Greg was friendly yet professional, he gave us time and we never felt rushed. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud. The food was amazing, the best steak we have had. So tender and so much flavour, my husband upgraded to the fillet mignon and he said it was such good value. We left completely stuffed but so satisfied and it was the first time in our America trip that we genuinely felt very happy and wanted to leave a tip because the service was so good.
My wife and I visited NYC for the 2nd time during a blizzard. Gallaghers was open before much of the city shutdown. We went here before our Broadway show since it’s conveniently located near most of the shows. They have a fantastic atmosphere with the meat locker at the entry, bartenders wearing a white butcher coat, large center bar, open kitchen, a variety of booths and tables, and the large urinals all create a unique feeling and experience. We came during NYC restaurant week with an incredible value priced menu of $30 for an appetizer and main course. We had the wedge salad, Caesar salad, chicken green beans, and salmon with broccoli and couscous. The food was excellent and service was top notch for fine dining. They didn’t do a great for food allergies which in fairness most restaurants including Gallaghers advertises no substitutions or changes. This is understandable since this is a very low price for their quality of food and service. Where they could have done better is the server set the expectation that my allergies would be avoided. I stated them in the reservation and confirmed them with our order. They served the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing and the Salmon with the couscous. They provided a new salad with olive oil and red wine vinegar. I didn’t eat the couscous and fortunately my allergy is not lethal. They went above and beyond and humored us with a dessert for an early Birthday celebration for my wife. I would highly recommend and we will definitely come back for more!
