The legendary, tiny bar inside the Ritz Paris where Ernest Hemingway famously 'liberated' the hotel at the end of WWII.

Atmosphere: 9/10 Located inside the Ritz-Carlton Paris, Bar Hemingway offers a chic and intimate setting full of Ernest Hemingway–themed décor. The small room features seating at the bar counter as well as tables scattered throughout. While the décor is unique and full of character, the seating layout isn’t perfect — some tables face the entrance/exit, which is separated only by a curtain. This curtain frequently opens as guests arrive or leave, letting in light from the hotel lobby and breaking the otherwise immersive atmosphere. No background music, which is unusual for a cocktail bar. Drinks: 9/10 Recommendation: El Matador Menu is a creative highlight — designed in a newspaper style with a large variety of cocktails. Nice coasters, high-quality glassware, and simple but fitting garnish and presentation. Drinks are made with great-quality ingredients and show excellent balance. Service: 9/10 Water and complimentary snacks served on arrival. Service is impeccable — attentive, professional, and warm. An extra touch: a fresh rose is presented to each lady, matched to the color of her dress. Prices are extremely high (about $45 per drink), but service quality and setting align with the Ritz name. Reservation recommended.
Bar Hemingway at the Ritz Paris is pure legend — and it lives up to its reputation. The atmosphere is intimate, elegant, and steeped in history, with the feeling that time slows down once you step inside. The cocktails are simply exceptional: crafted with precision, creativity, and a touch of storytelling. Every detail, from the glassware to the music, exudes class. The bartenders are true artists, making each drink feel personal. Yes, it’s pricey, but the experience is unforgettable — a little piece of Parisian magic worth every euro.
Bar Hemingway is the definition of a world-class cocktail experience—intimate, elegant, and effortlessly iconic. The ambiance is classic and cinematic, yet it still feels warm and inviting the moment you sit down. Service was impeccable: attentive, polished, and genuinely personable, with the kind of quiet confidence you expect at this level. The cocktails were outstanding—crafted with precision and balance. We had two “The Ritz Peer” cocktails and a Spicy Manhattan, and each drink was beautifully executed, flavorful, and perfectly suited to the setting. If you’re looking for a refined Parisian nightcap with flawless hospitality and serious mixology, Bar Hemingway is absolutely worth it. I’d return without hesitation
Was there Sunday the 28th of september. Service is amazing. They take note of how many people make the group and wait for you with beautiful glasses of water embellished by a perfectly cut cucumber slice. Menus are beautifully printed and curated, and you can even buy one! However, that’s when it stops being awesome. The cocktails are a farce, a sham. While they look interesting on paper, each of the members of my group of 3 asked what are the spirits they typically use for each cocktail and what follows is a disgrace for their price. My first friend’s was going to be Monkey Shoulder, my second’s I honestly don’t remember and, mine, El Matador, had I think Monkey Shoulder too. I tried to negotiate a better spirit, to which followed Macallan 12, Glen Moray 12, a whisky so horrid I don’t even remember what was suggested, and Lot 40. I ended up going with Rittenhouse. They arrived and their taste was bland, dull and effortless. They all were in the boozy and spirit forward section. From the beginning they were nothing to jump out of your seat for, yet also topped with ice to the point that if I did not take mine out of the glass, it would have ended a disgraceful melange of poor taste. My Matador tasted like a watered down Manhattan with no soul, complexity or body; but what remedy other than to finish it, for all of our choices resembled each other in their poor performance. Hemingway would not be happy with his namesake’s bar.
Atmosphere is great. Great place! Service is very friendly. Very quite place we're you can talk. Cocktails are very interesting and have some stories. Even though it's overpriced, expirience is great and we will come back.
