Highly recommend to get a tour to see the whole region around the basilica. We where fortunate to have Yazid, a young and pasionate tour guide. We booked him through GetYourGuide. He was the best guide we ever had. The entire area is a gold mine full of history and details you will be amazed about. The basilica is amazing, beautiful, vibrant, full of colours and sculptures. Also it has it's unique atmosphere. Visiting later on the evening proof for ut to be the best choice as it wasn't busy as per lunch time, early evening.

What a beautiful church. And the view is superb! You can see all of Paris from the steps of the Sacré Coeur. So many restaurants and shops to explore. And the little dog park is the best. So nice to watch the dogs play while taking in the amazing scenery.

If you’re in Paris, this is a spot you really shouldn’t miss. The climb up involves quite a lot of steps and can leave you a bit out of breath, but it’s completely worth the effort. Getting inside is fairly quick too—usually around a 15-minute wait. What stands out immediately is the brilliant white exterior of Sacré-Cœur Basilica, built from stone sourced from Château-Landon, known for becoming even brighter over time. We decided to take the stairs up, and the reward was incredible—a near 360-degree panoramic view over the city. On a clear day, you can easily see landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe in the distance. Inside, the basilica is equally impressive. The विशाल ceiling mosaic of Christ in glory is among the largest in the world and is truly breathtaking the moment you look up. The area at the top has a lively, energetic feel, often filled with street musicians adding to the atmosphere. Wander a bit further and you’ll come across charming streets lined with shops, cafés, and restaurants that reflect the character of Montmartre. We ended up sitting down with a coffee, watching the sunset as golden light slowly washed over the city—it was a peaceful and unforgettable moment. Definitely an experience you should have at least once in your life ✨

⛪ Basilique du Sacré-Cœur – Worth the climb for the views ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After a full morning exploring Montmartre, we joined a walking tour that gradually brought us up through the area, packed with stories and local history, before finishing at the stunning Sacré-Cœur. It was a beautiful, dry day – and that definitely helped, because the climb is no joke – but absolutely worth it. 🌄 The Climb & First Impressions Yes, it’s steep getting up there, but once you arrive: The setting is breathtaking The views stretch across the whole of Paris You instantly feel like you’ve reached somewhere special 🏛️ Inside the Basilica Entry is free (just a quick bag check), and inside you’ll find: A calm, respectful atmosphere Stunning ceiling artwork and architecture Thousands of candles glowing under the archways, creating a really special feel You can light a candle yourself (around €10), which adds to the experience. 📵 Note: There are signs about no flash photography. Plenty of people were on phones, but we chose to just take it in and enjoy the moment. ⚠️ Be Aware Like many busy tourist spots: Watch out for street traders and pickpockets around the area Just stay aware, especially with kids 🗼 The Dome Climb (Highly Recommended) We encouraged the kids (8 and 11) to take on the climb – around 300 steps – and it was a brilliant decision. Roughly €8 for adults and €4–€5 for children Takes you right to the top for 360° views of Paris We spent 30–45 minutes up there just soaking it all in The views are genuinely incredible and easily one of the best vantage points in the city. ⚠️ Important for Accessibility The staircase gets narrower as you go higher Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or walking aids Definitely one to take seriously before attempting 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Perspective Kids enjoyed the challenge of the climb Plenty of space outside to relax and take photos A great mix of history, activity, and reward (the views!) ⭐ Final Verdict A perfect blend of history, atmosphere, and unforgettable views. Whether you go inside, admire it from outside, or take on the climb to the top, it’s a must-do in Paris. Highly recommended – 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If in Paris definitely worth a visit. Lots of steps to walk up, but if you've seen John Wick 4 you'll know that already 😉 but when you're up there you're open to amazing views, architecture and if you follow it round plenty of shops and restaurants. My favourite bit is the square, where all the artists gather, selling pictures and charectours.... it's a busy thriving place and something you should see.
