The restaurant had a nice ambiance and a great location. They served house wine, which was surprisingly tasty, and the meat appeared to be of good quality. We ordered medium rare, but it came out rare — seemingly a cultural norm here, so we simply asked for it to be cooked a little more and carried on. A couple of disappointments: the meat had an excessive amount of sinew, to the point where I had to spit it out three times throughout the meal. We also ordered a salad, but it was served on the same plate as the bleeding raw meat, which was off-putting. On top of that, no one came to check how the food was during our meal. For these reasons, a 2-star rating feels about right.
We visit this restaurant every time we come to Rome. It’s a great Tuscan menu with Roman pastas - the best of both worlds…. and the Bistecca Fiorentina is delicious- perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Caprese salad was amazing - perfect tomatoes even in January. Every time we’ve been it’s been a full house. Reservation recommended.
We visited as a couple and ordered the meat platter for two, which was amazing, and the Gorgonzola pasta, which was nothing short of perfect. The food and drinks arrived very quickly. However, the only reason we won't be returning is the service. The waiters were unpleasant, there was zero communication or hospitality, and the service felt incredibly cold and detached.
I like this restaurant! The waiters are all elderly gentlemen, which gave me the warm, homey feeling of dining at my wealthy grandparents' house. For our starter, we ordered the beef tartare. The gentleman put on a show, adding wine and Italian black vinegar, which made it incredibly tender and delicious! Plus, the portions are huge; one starter is enough for two people. We also ordered mussels as a second starter, cooked to perfection—tender, fresh, and savory. They were absolutely divine with the restaurant's bread! This bread is wood-fired and has a wonderful smoky aroma from the charcoal. The main course, of course, had to be the Florentine specialty, the Chianina steak. The T-bone was enormous! It was cooked perfectly—charred on the outside and tender on the inside. At medium-rare, you could taste the natural sweetness of the high-quality meat. Because it was so delicious, we ordered three different bottles of wine to pair with our three courses. Their wine list is fantastic! All are excellent, well-known Italian wines. The person who designed the menu must be a true expert. The service from the gentlemen made me feel like I was in an authentic Italian restaurant. A must-visit for any beef lover. It's best to make a reservation in advance; it was fully booked even on a weekday.
I was in Rome one hour, starving. This place was busy and close to the hotel. The waiters were short with us so I was skeptical and wanted to leave. Omg, I'm so glad I didn't. First GREAT MEAL in Europe. I had the best steak ever with green peppercorns and cream sauce. My husband had veal scallopini with tomato sauce. Delicious. Generous drink pour. Price was so reasonable. It's a must. The waiters were so sweet once we warmed up to them. Go Marco! Imagine chef is so sweet, kind and inclusive. I will never be able to put in word, how much I adore this absolutely fabulous restaurant. Sooooo delicious, we went back again. ❤️🩷🧡 Best night ever!!!!!!
