This is the most beautiful Basilica in the world. Definitely get tickets beforehand, the line is not worth the wait (hundreds of people long). The tickets don’t sell out, we bought ours the night before. If you’re going to the dome, bring a smaller backpack, the stairs get cramped. The dome is worth it, just know it’s about 700 steps with little to no breaks without holding everyone up. The audio guide is free on your phone and worth listening too. If your catholic, weekday mass is held in the morning about every hour. Just ask a curator, they will direct you. The statues are HUGE and stunning. The marble work is spectacular and the mosaics are amazing. Words and photos barely describe it. Such a blessing to be able to visit.
Visiting St. Peter's Basilica was truly breathtaking and one of the highlights of our trip. There were lots of visitors, but surprisingly it never actually felt crowded once inside due to the sheer scale of the basilica. The space is so vast that you can still take everything in and move around comfortably. That said, don’t expect to get in at your exact booked time slot. We still waited around three hours in line, so be prepared and plan accordingly. However, it was absolutely worth the wait. Make sure you climb to the dome — the views over Rome are incredible and give you a wonderful perspective of the city. An unforgettable experience from start to finish.
St. Peter’s Basilica is absolutely magnificent. The scale of the building is truly grand, and the architecture is completely jaw-dropping. The interior details are breathtaking, with incredible statues and beautiful paintings everywhere you look. The atmosphere inside is very special and moving — even for non-Catholics, it feels like a powerful and meaningful place to visit. It was truly an honor to see the largest church in the world by interior size and one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Catholics. A small tip: it’s much better to plan your visit in advance. Booking a skip-the-line ticket is highly recommended, as it helps reduce the waiting time significantly and makes the experience much smoother.
Pilgrimage of Hope. A totally uplifting experience. We went during the Jubilee. From the rays of early morning sun lights on the building, the magnificent architectures, to the faiths in motion of the pilgrims. Be awed and be inspired. A belated postings on a visit that's so vividly etched in my memories.
What can you say , when you wait your entire life to see something … it didn’t disappoint… go early… it’s free to get in I was there 25 minutes before 7:00am and was one of the first few hundred ti get in, but heard that by midday you are waiting in the sun for a few hours… tye Bernini skier, michael angelos piety … 30 ft tall micromosaics, saints bones and relics on display … this place will not disappoint . There are several masses going on throughout your visit, so some places are not available …. But plenty to see .
