Yang Shin is hands down my favorite restaurant in Taipei. I cannot wait to visit Taiwan again to dine here. I wish the US had a restaurant as wonderful as Yang Shin. We came twice within the same week during our Taipei trip. I loved it that much. Anything I ordered, every dish always wow’d me! Quality food. It gets busy. Make sure to make a reservation online. Their teas are rich and fantastic. The dishes that I cannot forget about: Taro filled (wrapped with yuba). I also loved the sesame ball (black sesame filling) and the black sesame dessert soup! The shiu mai is exceptional. Do yourself a favor and take you and your loved ones here
We arrived at 5:10 PM, slightly before the restaurant began service at 5:30 PM. We decided to try the sharing meal package for four people, and overall, my family enjoyed the dining experience. Most of the dishes were delicious and well prepared. Our favorite dishes, which we highly recommend, were: Stir-fried asparagus with ginkgo and mixed greens — the crunchy asparagus paired very well with the ginkgo nuts and cashew nuts. Almond and Chinese yam rolls Stir-fried flat noodles Egg tarts- 😋😋😋 The following dishes lacked flavor for our taste preferences: Shanghai xiao long bao Deep-fried radish raccoon pastry Cantonese BBQ char siu bao Our dining session was scheduled until 7:00 PM. Unfortunately, by 6:40 PM, we were still waiting for about half of our dishes to be served. The staff kindly extended our dining time until 7:30 PM, which we appreciated. The dining environment was initially calm and relaxing, though it became noticeably noisier once the restaurant filled up later in the evening. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys classic vegetarian dishes and dim sum.
Yang Shin is a great find right in the heart of Taipei. The menu is extensive — an impressive spread of typical Taiwanese dishes, all vegetarian — and large enough that a single visit will only scratch the surface. Everything we tried was excellent, which makes the prospect of returning to work through more of it a very easy one. The restaurant has the feel of a genuine local institution — full of regulars, families, and larger groups, which says everything about how well it’s embedded in the neighbourhood. Service was friendly and helpful throughout. A must for anyone looking for traditional Taiwanese vegetarian cooking in the city.
We got the 5 person sharing platter, spending around $700 TWD each. It was fabulous, with an unbelievable 8 courses (to share) which just kept on coming! Each dish was unique but they complimented each other and allowed us to try lots of traditional Taiwanese food which is normally not vegetarian friendly. Even though the restaurant was more formal than us younger crowd were used to, we felt especially welcomed by the friendly staff, in particular Jenny! (There is also a robot assistant waiter which is cool to see). The hardest part of the meal was deciding what to choose! Would recommend this to anyone visiting Taipei, vegetarian or not. Please enjoy your delicious feast!
This is a higher class vegetarian restraunt. Big menu! My favourite is the pan fried radish cake. I ate 2 portions. That's how good it is. Others are good too except for the xiao long bao. The skin is just way too thick! Make sure to make a reservation. This place is always full. I made a reservation and informed them it is my partners birthday and they were kind enough to give us a round table for 4 persons to the 2 of us. Most of the tables are close to one another, can be quite cram and noisy! Overall I will surely recommend anyone who loves vegetarian radish cake to try it out. You will not regret it. Yumm!
