This place is so WORTH IT. i had such a good experience at sushi dai!! The chefs and staff were so fun to talk to and really made us feel like we were friends. the sushi was also tasty and good quality. And not to mention the price!! We paid around $36 per person for this meal. very affordable for omakase. and we were full by the end of it the sushi that day was tamago, miso soup, fatty tuna, snapper, spanish mackerel, deep sea fish, saury, live shrimp, yellowtail, barracuda, abalone, sword fish, roll, and your choice of fish to finish (i got Japanese gizzard shad, which was braided and so so pretty!!) i came back here a few months later and the chef remembered us! i felt very happy in that moment :) hospitality is so great over here

Fish was only okay - not worth the hype if you’re used to amazing quality and doesn’t compare to other places in Japan. Maybe they save the good quality for the first time slots, locals, and influencers? Woke up early to wait in the 3-5AM queue and was just able to get a 9 AM slot as the queue was long by 4:30. Line is moved to the restaurant right at 5AM and 1 person can reserve for 3+ with a cash deposit so earlier you’re able to taxi or walk (subways closed until 5), the better. Host speaks English and moves quick. The space is a typical counter seating, has 1 table for 3, and coat check. The food- green tea and a first course provided once you sit down. Some people had both yellow tail and octopus first but some did not (unsure why). Octopus was very chewy. Chefs are not serving the same fish at the same time and provide randomly for each of their parties. The basics were fine but nothing special. The horse mackerel was terribly chewy, the abalone is an acquired taste, the scallops were meh, the cooked fish cheeks were very saucy, a few other bites felt chewier than they should be. No fish was great. Was not a good intro coming from NYC. So far everywhere in Japan has been significantly better than Dai. Service was good and the chefs and staff were all friendly and kind.

We woke up at 3am and took a taxi to line up for 2 hours. When we got there we were 10th in line. I must say it was the best sushi I had in Japan! Everything was so fresh! So good that I went twice! Definitely worth trying! Highly recommend going at the beginning of the trip.

The hype was reaaalll!!! I wish it wasn't so because it was very hard to get a ticket (5 am lined up and got a slot for 8:40 am) but it was soooo worth it. The food was so fresh and delicious. I wasn't a big fan of raw fish but this converted me. Nothing was fishy and the ginger and scallion flavour for some of the fishes made them taste like the steamed ginger and scallion Chinese dish. Our chef was sooooo friendly and happy. He was attentative and noticed I was left-handed and made adjustment to my dish/ginger placement. He was also very nice to chat with. I heard him speak Japanese, English, Cantonese and Mandarin to customers. A must-try experience. ❤️😀

Delicious and delicious Omakase sushi. Friendly staff. It is a memorable experience to wake up at 3am, start queuing at 3.45 and get a ticket at 5am. We will finally seated at 6am.
