Absolutely ideal for visiting York. Backing on to the Minster its an easy 5 min walk to the shambles and other sights. Dog friendly and rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Loved the double walk-in shower! First class restaurant, but NB closed on Monday & Tuesdays. Spectacular garden accessed from the long gallery and Bar - perfect for recharging the batteries after a long journey or visiting sights. Very friendly and professional staff. Private car park. Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay at Gray's Court Hotel in the old city. It is a beautiful old house and former residence of James I. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was exceptional - freshly cooked rather than a buffet. It started with a delicious granola, fruit and yogurt, followed by a range of choices such as full English, poached egg on avocado toast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, eggs benedict etc. We stayed in the beautiful Cumberland room which looks out onto the garden. The room is not really suitable though for someone who is not steady on their feet as the door to the hallway opens on a set of 5 or 6 steps with no handrail. The other stairways had bannisters that could be used for support. So other than that I would highly recommend the hotel.

Grays Court’s Bow Room is probably the best restaurant experience across the whole of York. A wonderful, historic setting, coupled with exquisite service. And the food. Oh the food! Tastes that blow your mind delivered with visual artistry. For a special occasion, this is the place to go. This place should be Michelin starred, it is at that level of perfection - but without the pretentiousness.

A must dine restaurant and certainly one I’d want to return too to experience again, staff were knowledgeable, but witty and fun and proud to be from Yorkshire.. but genuinely made you feel welcome, the setting and surroundings were stunning and love the decor and feel of the Bow room restaurant, such beautiful views of the garden and city walls. As for the food this is cooking of the highest level. Technically brilliant but never forgetting that flavour and treating the ingredients with respect and what’s in season results in a dining experience that is unforgettable. Thank you

Absolutely perfect! The room was big with a huge bathroom, all ammenities and service was perfect. We also ate at the restaurant: it was awesome with once again great service. Breakfast was also on par with everything else. We can only recommend both the hotel and the restaurant! We'll be back when in York!
